National parks in Croatia

National parks in Croatia are Protected Areas of land or sea with preserved diversity of flora and fauna, endemic species, Protected Areas and Ecological Areas which are aiming at preservation of these areas with all of their natural forms and biological species. Because of lithospheric plates collision and subduction, mountains Velebit, Kozjak, Mosor, Biokovo and many others have created land barrier between sea, mountain fields and large plates in Slavonija. Thus, karst land forms, lakes, swamps, Forests and pastures have appeared. Although, Croatia is small country, it has large number of areas with specific forms and species of flora, fauna, underground rivers, karst land forms and appearances. To perform their basic tasks and operate successfully, except jobs of supervision, maintenance, feeding, hunt and breeding of wild animals and birds, National Parks In Croatia have built commercial objects and contents for guests and tourists hunters, like they are hunting lodges, hotels, restaurants and sports facilities. For their beauty, untouched nature, numerous lakes and rivers, many tourists are coming here for visit and vacation in national parks in Croatia. About 2.300.000 tourists a year are visiting national parks in Croatia. To protect these areas, 8 National Parks In Croatia have been established and they are: Brijuni, Kornati, Krka, Mljet, Paklenica, Plitvica lakes, Risnjak i Northern Velebit which cover overall surface of 1.000 km2.
