National park Mljet Croatia

National park Mljet Croatia is island which is situated on southern part of Croatia and it has been proclaimed as national park in year 1960. Very park covers one third of island on its north western part with surface of 30 km2 and 53 km2 of waters. About 100.000 tourists a year are visiting national park Mljet. Island Mljet is 37 km long and 3 km wide and it has overall surface of 100 km2. National park Mljet is famous after thick forest of aleppo pine trees, salt lakes, benedictine monastery of Saint Mary, numerous forest trails and untouched nature. National park Mljet Croatia has long history because old Illyrians, romans and Dubrovnik Republic inhabitants have been living here. Today, Island Mljet is favorite destination for guests, tourists and sailors who are coming here by their boats to enjoy in numerous coves, rocky or pebbles beaches and clear sea. There is ship line between town Sobra on Island Mljet and town Dubrovnik on mainland, so day excursions to National Park Mljet Croatia can be arranged for many lovers to nature. Management of National Park Mljet Croatia is located in town Govedari on western part of island.
