Town Zedno

Town Zedno is attractive dalmatian rural village which is situated in central part of island Ciovo at halfway from town Arbanija to Okrug gornji. Town Zedno belongs to municipality of town Trogir. Town Zedno has been mentioned for first time in 4th century when church Sveti Mavra has been built, so hermits and ascetics could come here. It is assumed that village has got its name after scarcity of water for very inhabitants, their fields and cattle they have had. Through history inhabitants of town Zedno have been dealing with agriculture and cattle breeding for its position in central part of island. On fishing they have been going periodically, when they had no agricultural jobs in their fields. Only advantage was of this position of town Zedno was safety of pirats attacks from sea and various armies from mainland. Taday Town Zedno is small village which has renovated its old stone houses and started in dealing with tourism. Town Zedno has several shops, post office and pizzeria. Domestic dalmatian dishes, peace, silence, wines, fruit and vegetables from surrounding fields provide tourists and guests ecological healthy food and real rural environment in beautiful nature.
