Days of the olive trees and olive oil, town of Postira

Under the patronage of the Ministry of agriculture,fishing trade and rural development, Days Of Olive Trees and Olive Oil «Oblica fest Postira» was organinized in the January, in the pastoral center Saint Joseph, town of Postira on the island Brac, after the the olives were harvested and Olive Oil was stored. It was interesting, that round 200 participants have brought their olive oils to the judgement and testing, so they could find out what quality of ther olive oils is about. The majority of the olive oils were classified as the extra virgin oils, which indicates to the conclusion that our olive trees growers have become the top experts in the trees cutting,soil cultivation,harvest and crops proccesing. The participants have come from all the regions of the Republic of Croatia and abroad, so they could be present to the testing,education and exchange of experiences.

These festival is taking place excatly on the island of Brac, because there is the largest number of the olive trees growers among the islands in the Republic of Croatia. It is estimated, that there are about 600.000 olive trees cultivated, and the equal number olive trees uncaltivated and neglected. This festival is interested to all of visitors, so the tourists have started to join these olive trees and olive oils days and enjoy the stay on the island od Brac.
