History of town Zivogosce

Through the history of town Zivogosce, the old settlement was located on the mountain Biokovo slopes for the safety of the inhabitants from the foreign armies attacks. The town of Zivogosce was mentioned for the first time in the 13th century. It has got its name by the Kresevo bull from the year 1434. to the glory of the hospitality god, probably after the kindness of the hosts during the receiving the guests and passengers. In the vicinity of the settlement, there are the remains of the roman vilae rusticae and the other proofs of the stay of the Romans in the 1-4th century a.c.

Franciscan monastery

The town Mostar Franciscan friars have settled here in the 16. century, because they were running away from the turkish army. They have managed to build the Franciscan Monastery in the year 1616. Later, it has been widened with the other objects walls. Today, this Franciscan Monastery is empty, but it is attractive as the tourist object.
